Job summary

The Rand Merchant Bank, part of the FirstRand Group, seeks a Junior Murex Engineer – Testing and Automation to support MX.3 testing through automated execution, MxTest packs, scripting and data preparation. This hands-on role focuses on reducing manual effort while growing expertise in the Murex platform.

You will collaborate with Murex engineers, business analysts and developers to automate tests, build reusable regression packs and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS, IT, engineering or related field.
• Foundational testing principles, test execution and regression testing.
• Scripting or programming experience, preferably Python and Bash.
• Basic SQL skills for querying and validating data.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux and command-line usage.
• Willingness to learn Murex MX.3, MxTest and enterprise testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Support testing activities for Murex MX.3 changes, releases and regressions.
• Execute MxTest automated test cases and record outcomes accurately.
• Assist with manual testing where automation is unavailable.
• Prepare test cases, data, environments and tools before execution.
• Log and communicate test results, defects and issues.
• Perform first-level analysis of failed tests and escalate as needed.
• Support system integration, regression, UAT and production validation.
