Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and coordinate the plant team to execute planned maintenance efficiently within resource constraints.
  2. Identify maintenance needs through inspections, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and breakdown analysis.
  3. Manage work backlog, prioritizing tasks to maximize equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
  4. Support shutdown planning and execution alongside the Maintenance Manager.
  5. Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring safety procedures and permits are strictly followed.
  6. Manage work orders, ensure quality feedback, and verify completion and accuracy of work documentation.
  7. Coordinate with subcontractors and service providers for maintenance activities.
  8. Handle equipment breakdowns and unplanned stoppages effectively.
  9. Implement and monitor after-care and follow-up plans for equipment.
  10. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant KPIs, safety, and cost efficiency.
  11. Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Structured Junior Management Development Program (advantageous).
Experience and Skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Maintenance.
  • Practical problem-solving skills related to equipment repair and assembly.
  • Experience in work identification, reliability improvements, and shutdown planning.
  • Knowledge of equipment failure modes, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Ability to lead teams, coordinate tasks, and manage safety protocols.
