Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment is seeking a Junior Developer to contribute to the design, build, test, support and maintenance of enterprise Java services in a mission-critical integration setting. The role focuses on reliable data exchange between systems and building the depth to work independently on the platform.

You will work with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and modern tooling to develop stable services, write tests and participate in design discussions within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ commercial software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java in production environments.
• Experience with Spring Boot and REST endpoints.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate, including mapping and basic query tuning.
• Git in a team workflow.
• Maven or Gradle build tools.
• Strong OO programming and clean, maintainable code.
• Software testing including unit tests and defect verification.
• Debugging across logs, APIs and databases.
• Ability to work from a spec and ask clarifying questions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain Java applications and services.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs with proper models, validation, error handling and versioning.
• Implement data access with JPA/Hibernate against relational databases.
• Write and maintain SQL for development and performance checks.
• Apply OO design to fit existing patterns and readability.
• Write unit and integration tests and support system testing.
• Debug defects across application, API and database layers; document root cause and fix.
• Use Git for branching, commits, PRs and reviews.
• Build and package applications with Maven or Gradle and follow release processes.
• Participate in design discussions, sprints, stand-ups and estimations.
• Support deployments and provide input on incidents.
• Maintain technical notes and handover comments.
• Follow secure coding, data protection and audit requirements.
