Job summary

A technology solutions company in Umhlanga is seeking a Junior IT Technician to manage electronic equipment repairs and maintain accuracy in documentation. Candidates should hold a valid South African Driver’s License and have strong customer care and problem-solving skills. Experience is advantageous but not required. This role supports organizational objectives through effective handling of IT assets and customer queries.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control electronic equipment repairs and maintain a detailed repair log.
  • Salvage usable electronic components and repair items cost-effectively within the second-hand area.
  • Estimate damage and calculate the cost of materials to support business goals.
  • Organize and control the department to support business objectives.
  • Receive and record incoming equipment according to company procedures.
  • Label and issue repaired items following IT policies and procedures.
  • Address queries promptly and effectively.
  • Report problems to the Senior Stock Controller clearly and timely.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment received, destroyed, and repaired.
  • Maintain an organized archive room.
  • Conduct yourself professionally and remain productive.
  • Set up desktops and laptops, including software installation.
  • Set up other IT hardware as required.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed by the business.

Job description

The Star Merchant has an exciting opportunity available for a Junior IT Technician to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for executing electronic equipment control measures to ensure the company minimizes stock holding and maximizes the repairs system and paperwork accuracy.

Minimum Requirements
  • Valid South African Driver’s License
