Job description

The Star Merchant has an exciting opportunity available for a Junior IT Technicianto be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for executing electronic equipment control measures to ensure the company minimizes stock holding and maximizes the repairs system and paperwork accuracy.

Minimum requirements

  • Valid South AfricanDriver’s License

  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and control electronic equipment repairs and maintain a detailed repair log.
  • Salvage any usable electronic components and repair item in the most cost-effective manner possible within
  • the second-hand area.
  • Estimate damage and calculate the cost of materials to cost effectively support the goals of the business.
  • Ensure that the department is well organized and controlled to sufficiently support the goals of the business.
  • Ensure incoming equipment is received and recorded appropriately according to the company’s procedure.
  • Ensure repaired items are labelled and issued out according to the company’s IT policy and procedures.
  • Ensure queries are addressed timeously and effectively.
  • Ensure any problems encountered are reported to the Senior Stock Controller clearly and timeously.
  • Ensure and keep accurate record of equipment received, destroyed and repaired is maintained.
  • Compile and maintain an accurate record of the archive room.
  • Ensure to conduct yourself professionally and is always productive.
  • Set up of desktops and laptops (Install software as well).
  • Set up of all other IT hardware.
  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required by the business.
