Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
To assess the sampling activities carried out on site by samplers, as well as the sample preparation supervisor, to ensure:
- Sufficient staff are on site
- Staff performing sampling per SoP/Mission Order
- Deviations and issues from the site are recorded and reported continuously (email & WhatsApp communication)
- Supervise and report if staff are deviating from SGS policies surrounding ethics and integrity
- Carry out training where needed for staff
- Monitor staff times on site
Responsibilities
- Attend to all aspects of operational matters related to the work in progress
- Ensure adherence to International Standards / SoP / Mission Order
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensure adherence to the Company Code of Ethics
- Liaising with direct superiors regarding progress and/or non-conformance
- Ensure maintenance of work files & field reports
- Co-ordinate the daily operational deployment and activities of commercial inspectors in conjunction with the site supervisors
- Assist in the training, coaching and counseling of full-time employees, sub contractors and part-time employees in conjunction with the branch manager to ensure continuity of competencies to underpin the growth strategies
- Ensure that all SGS equipment (Camera, vehicles, prep equipment if needed) is respected and maintained in good working order
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
Key Performance indicators
- Reporting deviations on site staff and correcting these with immediate supervisors
- Providing updates on inspections through watsapp and email
- Authority to discipline and remove staff that do not comply with SGS policies and rules as well as those that consistently not perform according to their planned tasks.
SPECIFIC AUHORITIES
- Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter a hazardous environment without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to action
- Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situations to higher authority to take action
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified
- Coordinate quality across Trade sites PE
- Plan staff requirements with PE supervisor
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Sampling procedure knowledge of minerals
- Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak)
- Any other languages an added advantage
- Drivers license
- Computer literacy (Minimum Word and Excel)
