Job description

National Manufacturing company in the steel industry requires a Junior Industrial Engineer to assist in improving processes, eliminating inefficiencies and to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and analyze current production processing within all departments.
  2. Identify gaps and inefficiencies within the processes.
  3. Design and implement systems and processes to improve resource optimization (people skills and improve usage of machinery and tools for accuracy and cost effectiveness).
  4. Do time studies and collect data within all departments in Production – document the findings and make recommendations to improve production output.
  5. Ensure that the production plan is managed accordingly and that it is adhered to.
  6. Be able to report on production figures daily / weekly / monthly.
  7. Discuss production updates as well as any faults / downtime to the Production Manager.
  8. Assist with any urgent jobs that may have to be done.
  9. Assist with health and safety protocols in the factory.
Skills / Qualifications
  1. Industrial Engineering qualifications - mandatory.
  2. 2-3 years of working experience in the manufacturing industry.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  5. Must be able to communicate effectively.
  6. Must be able to work under pressure and must be good with time management.
  7. Must be able to work outside of normal working hours (including weekends).
  8. Must work as part of a team and be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  9. High proficiency in MS Office, with particular focus on Excel.
