SUMMARY:

Junior Imports Controller

POSITION INFO:

As a Junior Imports Controller, you will play a critical support role in facilitating the timely and efficient import of goods. You will be responsible for preparing documentation, coordinating with freight partners, monitoring compliance with customs regulations, and supporting various import-related activities across departments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with the preparation and management of import documentation (POs, shipping docs, customs declarations).
  2. Support customs compliance and stay updated on regulatory changes.
  3. Coordinate incoming shipments with suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents.
  4. Track shipments and help ensure timely deliveries.
  5. Reconcile incoming stock and maintain inventory records.
  6. Assist in resolving shipment delays, discrepancies, or customs issues.
  7. Help monitor import costs and identify areas for cost-saving.
  8. Capture profit and loss journals where required and assist with payment preparations.
  9. Manage and maintain import records and databases.
  10. Communicate with internal departments and external logistics partners.
  11. Provide administrative support including scheduling, correspondence, and reporting.
  12. Participate in training and stay informed of best practices in international trade.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience are a plus).
  • Familiarity with SAGE Pastel and Microsoft Excel.
  • Certifications in logistics or supply chain (CSCP, CITP, Import/Export Certification).
