Job description

A leading Waste Management company is seeking the services of a Junior HR officer for its Depot in Germiston.

POSITION INFO : JOB PURPOSE :

To implement and maintain effective Human Resources for the Group. Responsible for several aspects of the personnel function such as performance appraisal, job evaluation, recruitment etc.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR

  1. RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
  2. Advertising of vacancies in the various media or through consultants to ensure optimised costs vs. effective recruitment
  3. Screening and short listing of all applicants and response handling
  4. All psychometric testing and referral of applicants
  5. Security clearance of employee as and when required
  6. All sign on documentation and take on documentation
  7. Accurate loading of the employee personnel details onto the database
  8. Generation of probationary period programs in conjunction with line management
  9. Monitoring of new incumbent through the induction process and facilitating interventions as required.
  1. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
  2. Training needs analysis results and identification of all training needs (performance appraisal results etc.)
  3. Development of career development program in conjunction with line management
  4. Submission of workplace skills plan (WSP) and actual training reports (ATR)
  5. Study loan applications and working / assistance of students as required
  6. Ensuring that training and development plans compliment Employment Equity guidelines of the company
  1. ADMINISTRATION
  2. Loading & Termination of employees
  3. HR reporting on a monthly basis to HR Manager (including WSP / ATR progress, leave, staff turnover, etc.)
  4. Employment equity statistics
  5. All adhoc letters, notes, memos, minutes etc are drafted as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of the CCMA (Policies, Practices and Procedures)
  2. Knowledge of Bargaining Councils, Employer Councils
  3. Knowledge of DOL, LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA
  4. Knowledge of Disciplinary Procedures and sanctions

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Diploma / Degree in Labour Relations, Labour law, Human / Industrial Relations
  • Must have at least 1-3 years experience in an HR environment
  • MS Office Suite - Good excel and word competency is an essential requirement
  • Maintaining discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Must have a valid Drivers licence and be willing to travel
