Job description

Well known manufacturing company based in Linbro Park requires a Junior HR Officer. Individual must live within a 15 km radius of Linbro Park and MUST have strong Industrial Relations experience.

POSITION INFO :

This HR Generalist position reports directly to the Finance Executive and requires the skills of a Junior HR Officer ready to assume more responsibilities, to handle a variety of Human Resources activities at this operation and two smaller satellite operations in Natal and Cape Town.

DUTIES :

  1. Handling employee relations issues such as grievances, disciplinary action and day-to-day labour matters at operational level.
  2. Individual MUST have strong IR knowledge and must be able to answer most IR questions without seeking advice.
  3. Attend to payroll queries.
  4. MUST understand VIP Sage payroll system.
  5. Assisting with the development and implementation of employment equity and skills development plans.
  6. Handling recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding.
  7. Assisting with the implementation of Company policies and procedures at operational level.
  8. Providing OD input.
  9. Handling administration such as monthly and quarterly reporting, as well as employee benefit administration, and assisting with ad hoc responsibilities as and when required.

To be considered for the position you should meet at least the following essential criteria:

  1. NQF 5 HR Qualification / Diploma or Degree.
  2. 2 - 3 Years proven experience of successfully handling at least some of the above responsibilities at operational level in a unionized manufacturing and sales environment to include strong IR skills.
  3. Knowledge of SAGE VIP Payroll system is essential.
  4. Sound knowledge of relevant labour legislation and legislative procedures for dealing with employee relations matters.
  5. Computer literacy in Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  6. At least NQF4 level of numeracy.
  7. Fluency in English, whilst proficiency in relevant indigenous language/s would be advantageous.
  8. An objective approach, coupled with good mediation and some negotiation skills.
  9. Good co-ordination, administrative and project management abilities.
  10. Good lateral-thinking abilities.
  11. A high level of self-motivation and commitment.
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  13. An unendorsed valid code EB driver’s licence with own reliable vehicle.

This position further requires the incumbent to work relatively independently but with continuous support and a functional reporting line to the Group HR function.
