Job description

YOUR ROLE

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the R&D Team on technical and administrative functions related to the development of new flavours and flavour analysis, including analytical flavour support to the wider MEA region.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analysing of raw materials, flavours and market products.
  • Preparing of samples, recording of information and creating documentation accurately.
  • Perform the day-to-day tasks for Analytical laboratory i.e. flavour matching analysis.
  • Record-keeping of samples coming in and going out of the Analytical Laboratory.
  • Calibration and maintenance of Analytical equipment.
  • Evaluate interim results and compile reports as required.
  • Organising and managing of analysis information and record keeping.
  • Ensuring Good Laboratory Practice is maintained in the Analytical Laboratory.
  • Ensuring an optimum exchange of information within the R&D division.
  • Working efficiently with other flavourists and Analytical members.
  • Optimal usage of the company’s digital systems and initiation of optimization efforts related to the relevant business processes.
  • Keeping pace with developments in analytical chemistry and its implementation.
  • Working closely with the Manager to achieve optimal results.

YOUR EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (MSc/BSc/ND/BTech) - Chemistry or related.
  • At least 2 years’ previous work experiencein the Flavour/Food Industry, using techniques such as gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and gas chromatography (GC/FID).
  • Knowledge of HPLC will be advantageous.
  • Experience with maintenance of GC instrument and organizing servicing of equipment.
  • Experience of SAP will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a structured and diligent manner with a high degree of precision and the energy to deliver projects on time and to a consistently high standard.
  • Be able to taste a variety of food and beverages including alcohol.
  • Must be familiar with typical sample preparation techniques that are applicable for GCMS and GC-FID.
  • Needs to show a high degree of pro-active thinking.
  • High level of communication skills required: communicates clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
  • The ability to provide concise, accurate analytical reports.
