Job description

Positions are available for Firefighters within the Fidelity Group to respond to and manage fire-related incidents.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Responding to fires, rescues, and related emergency and non-emergency incidents.
  2. Handling incidents involving hazardous substances.
  3. Extricating and/or releasing casualties and conducting emergency operations as directed.
  4. Resuscitating and treating injured persons under supervision.
  5. Operating firefighting equipment to control and extinguish fires.
  6. Undertaking fire protection duties to safeguard lives and property, with appropriate equipment.
  7. Preparing for emergencies and fire protection duties under supervision.
  8. Participating in training drills, simulations, and physical fitness exercises.
  9. Training relevant employees in fire fighting theory and practice.
  10. Advising on preventative and corrective actions.
  11. Implementing procedures and strategies to support security activities for the protection of data, people, institutions, and property.
  12. Performing basic maintenance on firefighting equipment to ensure readiness.
  13. Checking, cleaning, testing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
  14. Maintaining records through computerized logs.
  15. Conducting health and safety inspections to ensure a safe workplace.
  16. Completing required documentation and participating in safety meetings.
  17. Driving and operating specialized vehicles and machinery at emergency incidents.
  18. Ensuring firefighting apparatus and emergency equipment are safe and effective.
  19. Assisting with fire and safety training, inspections, and drills.
  20. Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, including safety inspections and proper use of protective clothing.
  21. Maintaining equipment and ensuring operational readiness.
  22. Handling administrative routines related to shifts and personnel management.

Qualifications, experience, and competencies required:

  • IFSAC Accreditation.
  • Firefighting training with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
  • Advanced driving experience is advantageous.
  • Medically and physically fit.
  • Good understanding of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and customer liaison skills.
  • Hazmat experience and knowledge.
  • EMT certification.
  • First Aid levels 1 to 3.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Hazmat guidelines.
  • Knowledge of security industry practices and codes of conduct.
  • Knowledge related to firefighter instructor roles in operational settings.
