Junior Financial Controller (Supervisor)

Junior Financial Controller (Supervisor) required in Newcastle.

A well-established supermarket retailer in Newcastle is looking for a Junior Financial Supervisor (Controller) with FMCG / Retail experience to join their team.

This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to grow within the supermarket/retail sector, assisting with daily financial operations, reporting, and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing financial reports and management accounts up to Trial Balance
• Process invoices, creditors, and debtors
• Perform payment clerk duties and handle basic financial administration
• Work closely with the General Manager and Head Office Finance Teams
• Supervise a small finance / admin team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
• Assist in stock control and cost management to optimize inventory turnover
• Oversee cash flow management to maintain financial stability
• Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with labour laws
• Monitor and control store expenses and financial risks

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in a finance role within the FMCG or retail industry (supermarket experience preferred)
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• Experience with retail accounting software (Easy Accounts)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment
• Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy
• Local Newcastle residency required
