LekkeSlaap is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Financial Controller to join our finance team. You will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our fast-growing platform.
In this position, you will assist with payroll, manage reconciliations, and support finance operations to ensure the continued growth of LekkeSlaap. As a Junior Financial Controller, your analytical skills and attention to detail will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
- Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of payment gateways and supplier accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Journals & Close: Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Reconcile customer and partner accounts to maintain financial accuracy and stakeholder trust.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operations teams to resolve finance-related queries efficiently.
- Payroll: Assist with monthly payroll processing and reconciliation.
- Audit Support: Prepare working papers and documentation to support the annual audit process.
- Tax: Complete all relevant tax returns on SARS eFiling for review, including income tax, dividend tax, provisional tax, VAT201s, and EMP201s.
- Improvements: Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, contributing to a scalable and efficient digital finance environment.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Completed SAIPA / CIMA articles or 3 years of experience in a financial role, preferably in accounting or financial reporting
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, payroll, and employee tax
- Proficient in MS Excel and financial software (experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar preferred)
- Experience in QuickBooks Online and PaySpace would be advantageous
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic, fast-paced industry
- Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of South African financial regulations and compliance is advantageous
