A leading South African open-pit mining company is looking for two Junior Diesel Mechanics to join their maintenance team in Vereeniging. The role involves conducting maintenance and repairs on various mining equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Candidates should have a Grade 12 qualification and at least two years of relevant experience in surface mining.

Qualifications

• 2 years' post-trade experience in surface mining.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative and first-line maintenance on mining equipment.
• Fault find and repair diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• Complete job cards, inspections, and reports.

Job description

A leading South African open-pit mining and aggregates company has vacancies for two Junior Diesel Mechanics to join their dynamic maintenance team in Vereeniging .

Requirements :

• Grade 12 (Technical matric preferred)
• 2 years' post-trade experience in surface mining
• Experience working on mobile mining equipment, crushers, drill rigs, loaders, dumpers, excavators
• Knowledge of CAT engine systems, lubrication, oil sampling, and interpretation of oil analysis reports
• Ability to troubleshoot engine, transmission, pneumatic, hydraulic & electrical systems
• Valid Driver’s License

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct preventative and first-line maintenance on mining equipment
• Fault find and repair diesel engines and hydraulic systems
• Remove / install components and sub-assemblies
• Complete job cards, inspections, and reports
• Perform oil sampling, inspections & adhere to safety protocols
• Maintain and ensure safe use of tools and equipment
• Work at various remote sites, overtime, and standby as required
