Job summary

Mama Money is a fintech looking for a Junior Designer just out of university to join our Cape Town team. You will work closely with product, marketing, and brand teams to create digital and print assets, with hands-on mentorship and real ownership from day one.

You'll contribute to app, website, and social content, while developing fundamentals in typography, layout, and visual storytelling within a fast-moving fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Fresh out of university with a relevant qualification.
• Portfolio showing university projects or personal work.
• Working knowledge of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Figma.
• Strong eye for typography, colour, layout and visual storytelling.
• Curiosity, adaptability and willingness to learn on the job.
• Good communication skills and the ability to take direction and feedback constructively.
• Basic understanding of UI/UX principles.
• Exposure to motion graphics or basic video editing.
• Interest in fintech, financial inclusion, or the remittance space.

Responsibilities

• Support the design team on digital assets for the Mama Money app, website, and social channels
• Assist with marketing collateral — campaigns, banners, presentations, and promotional material
• Help maintain and apply our brand guidelines consistently across touchpoints
• Contribute fresh ideas and creative concepts in brainstorms and reviews
• Prepare and format design files for handover to developers or print
• Take feedback well and iterate quickly on design drafts
