Job summary

Old Mutual South Africa is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join the technology team in Cape Town. You will develop, test, maintain and support data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and datasets, with guidance from experienced engineers.

You will build experience in data quality, integrations and operational support while delivering accurate, fit-for-purpose outcomes. You will work with Product Owners and stakeholders, ensure governance and security requirements, and participate in Agile

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Exposure to Python and/or C# development.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data integration and data quality principles.
• Exposure to source control and software development practices; CI/CD advantageous.
• Experience with testing, documentation and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, maintain and support data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, integrations and datasets.
• Assist design and implementation of data solutions aligned with architecture and standards.
• Clarify requirements with stakeholders and deliver work in iterations.
• Maintain code quality and documentation, follow Git workflow.
