Job summary

Old Mutual South Africa is seeking a technically strong Data Engineer to design, develop and optimise data platforms and pipelines. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, software engineers and data consumers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

You will contribute to data quality, CI/CD practices and continuous improvement while building scalable, reliable data solutions for analytics, reporting and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 4–8 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database design.
• Strong SQL and programming skills in C# and/or Python.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and data architecture.
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with data visualization/reporting platforms is a plus.
• Azure Data Engineer Associate certification, or equivalent, is advantageous.
• Experience in financial services or asset management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build and optimise data models, databases and data integration solutions.
• Develop data solutions that support reporting, analytics and operational needs.
• Contribute to cloud-based data platform architecture and deployment.
