Overview
As a Junior Customs Agent with added marketing and sales duties at Blue Bird Cargo, you will be responsible for assisting with customs clearance processes, ensuring compliance with import / export regulations, and supporting the growth of the business through marketing and sales activities.
This is an entry-level role suited for a proactive individual aiming to develop their expertise in logistics, customs procedures, and business development.
Responsibilities
- Customs and Import / Export Clearance: Assist in preparing and submitting customs clearance documentation.
- Customs and Import / Export Clearance: Ensure compliance with all applicable customs regulations, tariffs, and duties.
- Customs and Import / Export Clearance: Coordinate with customs authorities and relevant agencies to facilitate smooth clearance processes.
- Customs and Import / Export Clearance: Track shipments and provide updates to clients regarding clearance status.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of customs documentation and shipments.
- Administrative Support: Assist in data entry and managing client files related to customs and shipping.
- Administrative Support: Support the team with general administrative tasks.
- Sales and Marketing Support: Assist in identifying new business opportunities within the logistics sector.
- Sales and Marketing Support: Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
- Sales and Marketing Support: Maintain relationships with existing clients and help generate new leads through cold calling and email outreach.
- Sales and Marketing Support: Promote the company's services across various channels, including social media platforms.
- Customer Service: Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding customs clearance and shipment status.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer support and respond to inquiries professionally and promptly.
Requirements
- South African unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have previously participated in the YES Programme.
- Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field (advantageous).
- Additional certifications in Logistics or Customs Clearance will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of customs procedures and import / export regulations.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and detail-oriented.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Office and familiarity with CRM systems.
- Results-driven with the ability to support sales and marketing initiatives.
