Junior Cost Accountant

Job Summary: Degree and experience in a Manufacturing environment are non-negotiable for this position.

The incumbent will assist the Finance team by ensuring the stock procedures, including the stock count, are designed and implemented correctly; and review the stock gain loss analysis to ensure that stock is kept under control and there are no large unexplained variances.

Attendance at monthly stocktake to oversee stock count process in line with audit procedures is mandatory. Role reports to the Financial Manager and the CEO.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor stock movements received from suppliers and dispatched to customers.
2. Ensure all stock movements are reflected.
3. Maintain and update a stock control issues log.
4. Manage any issues in a timely manner.
5. Complete the stock transfer reconciliation process, document and investigate any variances.
6. Highlight and process manual stock movements on the Sage software package to replicate physical records.
7. Support business reporting by providing insightful stock reporting and understanding the inventory profile.
8. Process all supplier and customer returns on Sage software package.
9. Complete stock reconciliations for warehouse that are not integrated into the ERP system and work with corresponding teams to facilitate variance resolution.
10. Adhere to audit controls and operating procedures to ensure integrity and completeness of stock records, contributing to the design of effective controls.
11. Assist in physical stock checks and book-to-system reconciliation tasks as required.
12. Maintain up-to-date and accurate process documents engaging with other teams and stakeholders for process signoff.

Qualifications:

1. B Com Degree - preferably with articles or cost accounting experience.
2. 3-5 years relevant experience.
3. Manufacturing sector experience essential.
4. The ability to work independently, without supervision.
5. Strong Excel skills.
6. ERP experience.
7. Brilliant interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
