At Haskoning, you will work on complex and internationally leading data center projects within our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) business unit. You will combine technical expertise with design coordination and quality assurance under the technical leadership of the lead / senior civil engineer. In this role, you bring together civil engineering knowledge, BIM expertise, and multidisciplinary collaboration in one challenging position.

What you do as a Junior Controls Engineer

As a Junior Controls Engineer, you will support the design, coordination, and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and associated monitoring and control systems for data centre projects.

Working alongside experienced Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, BIM, and Commissioning Engineers, you will contribute to the successful delivery of highly resilient mission-critical facilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of the Controls Philosophy.
• Assist in producing comprehensive controls design packages for global greenfield and brownfield
• Assist with condition surveys of existing control systems and associated instrumentation.
• Assist in preparing survey reports that identify legislative non-compliance and required operational improvements.
• Help determine the optimal design approach within technical and commercial constraints.
• Support the development of system architectures for industrial environments, including greenfield installations and brownfield C&I upgrades.
• Assist in developing control system designs from initial concept through to developed
• Assist in preparing performance specifications.
• Assist in preparing design deliverables, including drawings, schedules, and datasheets.
• Develop the associated 3D Revit model in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate control systems scopes with other engineering disciplines.
• Assist in preparing and evaluating tender packages, performance specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Support the construction and commissioning phases, including RIBA Stage 5, by reviewing technical submittals, responding to construction queries, and conducting site visits.
• Participate in testing and commissioning as required.

What you bring

You are an entrepreneurial, result oriented, proactive individual with a positive flexible and problem-solving attitude. Besides that, you have:

• A bachelor’s (BEng, BSc or BTech) or master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, control & instrumentation engineering, mechatronic engineering or automation engineering.
• 2-5 years post‑graduate experience in consulting engineering, industrial automation, controls engineering or building systems.
• Experience in mission-critical facilities or data centres would be advantageous.
• Exposure to building services, industrial controls, automation systems or critical infrastructure projects.
• Progress toward ECSA registration is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge or practical exposure in the following areas:
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Fundamentals of PLC, SCADA and HMI-based control systems.
  • Industrial communication protocols, basic network architecture and HVAC controls.
  • Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Revizto software.
