JUNIOR COMPLIANCE OFFICER

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Compliance Officer to join our compliance team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of compliance regulations, including FICA, with a preference for additional knowledge in POPIA, PAIA, and FATCA and CRS. This role will support the compliance function by assisting in monitoring, reporting, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the team in maintaining an effective compliance management framework and implementing the Group’s compliance strategy.
  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing compliance with FICA, POPIA, PAIA, FATCA & CRS and other relevant regulations.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and analyse compliance reports, identifying potential areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
  • Engage with business areas to ensure adequate actions are taken where any instances of non-compliance are identified.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for staff.
  • Collaborate with various departments to address compliance-related queries and issues.
  • Stay up to date with changes in relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed compliance records and documentation.
  • Under supervision, respond to regulators with regards to information requests and surveys where required.
  • Promote a compliance culture that values responsible conduct and compliance with internal and external obligations.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry.
  • Good understanding of FICA and working knowledge of POPIA regulations. .
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret information with regards to regulatory requirements and implementation.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific compliance frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with compliance software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
