Job summary

Qualifications

• LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Admitted Attorney in South Africa.
• Minimum 1 year post-admission experience.
• Practical experience in commercial law and contract drafting.
• Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions.
• Experience in commercial litigation.
• Strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must be based in or within reasonable commuting distance of Sandton.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and contracts.
• Provide legal advice on general commercial matters.
• Assist with Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, including due diligence and transaction documentation.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions and memoranda.
• Assist with commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Draft pleadings, notices, correspondence and other litigation-related documentation.
• Review and assess contractual and commercial risks.
• Liaise with clients, counsel and other relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with transaction management and ensure matters are progressed within required deadlines.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive client and matter files.
