Job summary

Placements24 in Durban is seeking a motivated Junior Civil Engineer to join the team, focusing on roads and stormwater design and construction supervision. This hybrid role combines remote work with in-person site visits.

You will work with senior engineers on project planning, design development, and supervision, gaining hands-on municipal infrastructure experience and building a solid civil engineering foundation in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering
• Eligible for professional registration with ECSA
• 0-3 years post-graduate civil engineering experience
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software
• Good understanding of South African infrastructure standards

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of road networks, including geometric design, pavement design, and traffic control measures
• Contribute to the design of stormwater drainage systems, including culverts, channels, and detention ponds
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations, and reports under the supervision of senior engineers
• Participate in site inspections and construction monitoring to ensure quality and adherence to designs
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities as directed by the project manager
• Conduct research and apply relevant engineering standards and best practices to project work
