Placements24 is seeking a Junior Chemical Engineer to support production operations in Soweto, Gauteng. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience under supervision, assisting with process monitoring, troubleshooting, quality control, and continuous improvement.

You will work with senior engineers and plant staff, building a foundation in process safety, data analysis, and documentation, while contributing to project work and on-the-job learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in chemical engineering or related role.
• Strong foundational knowledge of chemical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with process safety concepts and operational best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in monitoring production processes and equipment performance.
• Provide support for troubleshooting operational issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Participate in process data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Support quality assurance activities and ensure adherence to product specifications.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Assist in maintaining process documentation, including operating procedures and logbooks.
• Collaborate effectively with production operators, technicians, and other engineers.
• Undertake specific projects as assigned by the engineering team.
