As part of our expansion, we are looking for a Junior Buyer to join our procurement team based in Boksburg.

Job Summary :

As a Junior Buyer in Mechanical Engineering, you will assist in the procurement of mechanical parts, materials, and components necessary for the production and engineering operations. You will work closely with senior buyers, engineering teams, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality mechanical products. Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the purchasing of mechanical engineering components and materials, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, production, etc.) to identify procurement needs and specifications.
  • Source new suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships to negotiate the best pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without overstocking.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of purchase orders, contracts, and agreements.
  • Support the senior procurement team in managing supplier performance and resolving any supply chain issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor and track order status, shipping dates, and deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the mechanical engineering or manufacturing sector.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, materials, and engineering terminology.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and experience with procurement software / systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or other procurement software systems.
  • Familiarity with industry suppliers and mechanical components.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
