Job summary

Dante Personnel in Kempton Park is seeking a recently admitted or junior Attorney to join the Criminal Law & Protection Orders Department.

Qualifications

• LLB degree is required.
• Admitted Attorney or recently admitted to practise.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Valid driver’s licence and confident driver.
• Willing to travel to courts, police stations and detention facilities, including outlying areas.
• Strong communication, organisational and administrative skills.
• Able to work independently and under pressure.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Attend court and represent clients in criminal and Protection Order matters.
• Handle bail applications, appearances, trials and related Magistrates' Court proceedings.
• Consult with clients and obtain instructions.
• Prepare matters and court documentation.
• Manage allocated files, caseload and court diary.
• Liaise with prosecutors, investigating officers, court personnel, opposing attorneys and counsel.
• Keep clients and senior attorneys updated on matters.
• Maintain accurate file and case records.
• Record fees, attendances and billable work.
