Job summary

First Point Group in Pretoria is seeking a Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our expanding finance team. You will manage supplier invoices in Xero, reconcile balances, and support bank reconciliations daily.

We offer structured training, direct reporting to the CFO, and a clear development path into broader accounting tasks. Fluent English and Afrikaans are essential; you live in Pretoria/Centurion with reliable transport.

Qualifications

• Two years bookkeeping or accounts experience.
• Hands-on experience with Xero, Sage or Pastel; Xero preferred.
• Solid understanding of debits/credits, input/output VAT and bank reconciliations.
• Proficient in Excel (filters, SUM/SUMIF, VLOOKUP).
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans; professional emails to customers/suppliers.
• Based in Pretoria or Centurion with reliable transport.

Responsibilities

• Check and capture supplier invoices in Xero daily.
• Audit supplier invoices against billing system monthly and follow up queries.
• Reconcile supplier statements and prepare weekly/monthly payment schedules.
• Allocate customer payments and follow up overdue accounts; send statements/reminders.
• Process customer cancellations end to end, incl. notice periods and stop-billing dates.
• Manage finance ticket queue and accounts mailbox daily; ensure requests are answered.
• Complete weekly bank reconciliations and document requests.
• Over time, take on balance sheet reconciliations with training.
