Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to support the finance team in Welkom. This hybrid role blends office collaboration with remote flexibility, and covers bookkeeping, reconciliations and processing financial transactions.

Key duties include monthly reports, bank reconciliations, AP/AR processing, general ledger maintenance, data entry, and assisting with audits and tax filings. The ideal candidate holds a National Diploma or Bachelor’s in Accounting with 1–3 years’

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Proficiency in Sage or QuickBooks and Excel.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Ability to work both independently and in a hybrid setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and bank reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices and payments accurately.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are recorded correctly and timely.
• Support the finance team with data entry and administrative tasks related to accounting functions.
• Help prepare documentation for audits and tax filings.
