Job summary

The Recruitment Pig is seeking an entry-level accounting assistant in Gauteng to support the finance team with daily ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end processes.

You will capture supplier invoices, perform reconciliations, assist with VAT schedules and audits, and develop strong Excel-based record-keeping. This role provides structured guidance to grow in foundational accounting skills within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Completed BCom degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or a related commercial discipline.
• Successful completion of Accounting II (Financial Accounting II) at university.
• Solid foundational knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting rules.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, particularly basic Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
• High attention to detail with good numerical accuracy and organized working habits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a clear, professional telephone manner.
• Positive attitude, eager willingness to learn, and strong team-player mindset.

Responsibilities

• Capture daily supplier invoices, payments, and routine general ledger entries accurately.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and verify bank statements against system records.
• Assist in balancing intercompany transaction accounts across the group's investment portfolio.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers to keep vendor records up to date.
• Help the senior accounting team prepare working papers for the month-end trial balance.
• Assist with the preparation of VAT schedules and statutory compliance filing records.
• Manage organized digital filing systems to maintain clean records for annual audits.
