Job summary

Scatec in Cape Town is seeking a Junior Accountant to support the Finance and Asset Management teams with core accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting. Your work will cover payments, VAT, audits, and cross-entity activities in a global renewable energy business.

You will gain hands-on experience, a strong foundation in accounting controls, and exposure to international finance processes, while developing your technical skills in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• More than 3 years accounting experience.
• Proven experience preparing a basic trial balance.
• Solid Microsoft Excel skills and understanding of finance processes.
• Experience working with ERP systems will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process cashbooks, journals, intercompany transactions, customer invoices, and monthly customer statements across several group companies.
• Prepare bank, supplier, balance sheet, travel expense, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
• Capture supplier invoices, manage approval workflows, and review invoices for VAT, PO, and company compliance requirements.
• Coordinate domestic and international payment runs, prepare payment batches, and load payments onto banking platforms.
• Resolve supplier and invoice queries and maintain accurate supporting payment documentation.
• Prepare monthly VAT workings and support tax, KYC, CIPC, annual return, and other compliance requirements.
• Prepare audit working papers and supporting schedules, including ED and BEE-related information.
• Provide general finance support and assist with ad-hoc accounting and reporting requirements.

As a Junior Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting the Finance and Asset Management team by executing core accounting processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to reliable internal reporting. Your work will support several group companies and help ensure that payments, reconciliations, compliance activities, and financial information are completed accurately and on time. What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will take ownership of day-to-day accounting, payment, and compliance activities, including:
