Job summary

Sanlam Group is seeking a Junior Accountant for MiWay, a direct financial services company. The ideal candidate will manage accounts payable and receivable, process journal entries, and assist in financial reporting. Qualifications

  • Up to 2 years related experience required.
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA, SAIPA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Proven experience as a junior accountant or bookkeeper.

Responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience

Degree or Diploma with up to 2 years related experience.

What will make you successful in this role? Result Areas
  1. Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded and ensure the integrity of all accounts.
  2. Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
  3. Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
  4. Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  5. Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc.

  1. Update financial data in databases to ensure that information is accurate and immediately available when needed.
  2. Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  3. Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
  4. Assist with other accounting projects.
  5. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  6. Assist with audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance requirements.
  7. Provide support and guidance to departments on financial matters.
  8. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, policies, and regulations.
  9. Other ad hoc related matters.
Requirements
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA, SAIPA, or CIMA)
  • Proven experience as a junior accountant and/or bookkeeper
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent organizing abilities

  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
