JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

This is a full-time position reporting to the Business Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily reconciliation of the bank statements;
• Assist with creditors and debtors and have experience with reconciliations;
• Maintain accurate financial records up to Trial Balance and prepare all month end reconciliations for month end reporting;
• Monthly Management Accounts are completed by the 10th of each month;
• Assist with Payroll processing and maintain HR records;
• Maintain the fixed asset register, calculate monthly depreciation and post relevant journals;
• Monitor budget performance;
• Assist with cash flow forecasts, budgets, and submission of SARS returns;
• Support external audit by providing documentation and explanations of financial transactions;
• Assist with the implementation of new accounting systems;
• Stay updated on industry best practices, financial regulations, and software tools.

Skills and Qualifications:

• BCom Accounting degree with completed SAIPA articles;
• Excellent knowledge of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard;
• Sound work ethic with a professional and pleasant demeanour when dealing with staff and stakeholders;
• Proficiency in Pastel Accounting & Payroll;
• High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking;
• Be assertive and energetic together with having excellent organisational and administrative skills;
• Be self-motivated and willing to work as part of the administration team.
