Junior Accountant

UCOOK is a tech-enabled meal-kit delivery service based in Paarden Eiland (Head Office). We deliver perfectly-portioned, locally-sourced, fresh ingredients to our customers' doors — from farm to fork! We have been delivering nationwide since 2013.

At UCOOK, we create new recipes weekly and deliver fresh, locally sourced, and ethical pre-portioned ingredients. Our range also includes frozen meals, desserts, and kids' meals.

This role is ideal for a young and energetic junior accountant eager to contribute and learn in a fast-growing company at the forefront of the new economy, utilizing modern and rapidly evolving systems. The role reports to UCOOK's Senior Accountant.

Responsibilities:

1. Bank transaction processing, including bank reconciliations
2. Creditors reconciliations
3. Debtors processing (invoicing & statements)
4. Payment preparation
5. Preparation of journal entries
6. Payroll accounting
7. Asset management support: Fixed asset register; Asset tracking and counts
8. Assisting with yearly audit reviews
9. Transaction processing support (e.g., system support, document releasing)
10. Assisting in management account preparation
11. Other ad-hoc duties as required

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Finance degree or diploma
2. 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience (reconciliations, journal entries, data uploads, matching)
3. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
4. Strong computer skills, especially Excel, and familiarity with digital tools and systems
5. Experience managing people is beneficial
6. Experience with modern cloud-based accounting or ERP systems
7. Good verbal and written communication skills
8. High attention to detail
9. Ability to meet deadlines and multitask effectively
10. Experience working with trading inventory is essential
