Job summary

A financial services company based in Century City seeks a motivated Junior Accountant to join their finance team. This role will involve capturing and reconciling accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, and assisting with monthly financial reports. Candidates should have a National Diploma or BCom in Accounting, with some accounting experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software is essential. This full-time position offers a salary of R14,000 – R18,000 CTC per month.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of hospitality revenue streams is a plus.

Job Title: Junior Accountant

About the Role:
Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join their finance team. This role offers exposure to multi-entity accounting and hospitality finance operations, supporting day-to-day financial management and month-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture and reconcile accounts payable and receivable across business units.

  • Process supplier invoices and verify supporting documentation.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and POS/till cash-ups.

  • Assist with monthly management accounts and property reports.

  • Maintain the general ledger and post journals accurately.

  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and UIF returns.

  • Assist with payroll processing for hospitality and operations staff.

  • Manage supplier accounts and resolve queries promptly.

  • Liaise with FOH managers to resolve billing discrepancies.

  • Support year-end audits and ad-hoc finance projects as required.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or BCom in Accounting or Finance (or studying towards).

  • 1–3 years’ accounting experience; hospitality or multi-entity experience is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero).

  • Understanding of hospitality revenue streams (rooms, F&B, rentals) is a plus.

  • Highly organised, accurate, and able to meet deadlines consistently.
