Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our friendly and geo-dispersed team which is currently located across several offices around Africa and the UK. This role will be supporting and reporting directly to the Accounting Manager.

The role will initially focus on supporting of accounting activities, treasury reporting, assisting in month end closure activities, account payable management, invoice verification, supplier verification as well as providing support in supplier balance reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for weekly treasury reporting to the management and ensuring there is always sufficient cash balance for day to day working capital requirements
  • Posting of bank transactions and reconciling bank balance on accounting software with bank statements
  • Posting of month end journals including but not limited to accruals, prepayment, intercompany transactions
  • Assist with accurate and timely closure of month end activities
  • Support in preparation of internal and other financial reports
  • Verifying invoices and ensuring appropriate documentation i.e. workings or agreement
  • Work with cross functional teams to resolve vendor and invoice processing matters
  • Timely reconciliation of vendor payables
  • Preparation of bank mandate and the first point of contact with the bankers
  • Responsible for setting up payments on banking platforms.
  • Actively monitoring the AP inbox and Approval Max (automated system) and addressing all AP related queries
  • Ensuring correct and consistent coding of expense and department in Approval Max.
  • Assisting with the implementation of new accounting systems across the group.
  • Suggesting ways to improve the day-to-day accounting processes
  • Other Ad hoc duties as may reasonably be requested by Accounting Manager and CFO

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Having 1-2 years of experience in accounting field
  • Invoice and/or payments processing knowledge
  • Knowledge of accounts payable procedures and regulations
  • Familiar with IFRS and withholding tax systems is beneficial
  • Experience with working on Xero and an automated approval system.
  • Ability to work independently and strong time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced excel proficiency
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Team Player and self-starter
  • Strong interpersonal and business partnering skills
  • Able to Organise, Prioritise and take ownership of the task assigned
