Summary of Role

NHS Jobs is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to join our Trust, offering exceptional clinical and operational pharmacy services. This role involves working across various sections of our pharmacy department on a rotational basis under the guidance of lead pharmacy staff.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Services Rotation: Engage in different areas of the pharmacy, including the dispensary, medicines information, medical and surgical wards, and chemotherapy production.

Medication Management: Oversee the safe, effective, and efficient provision of medicines and medication information to patients, carers, medical and nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Clinical Assessment: Daily review of patients’ medication charts on assigned wards, including medicines reconciliation, to enhance medication safety and optimization.

Dispensing Oversight: Supervise and verify the dispensing and issuing of medicines, ensuring accuracy and safety in all pharmacy areas.

Clinical Governance: Support the Trust’s clinical governance processes by reporting incidents and adhering to all relevant guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Service Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of new clinical pharmacy services aimed at improving pharmaceutical care.

Continuing Professional Development: Engage in mandatory CPD programs as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), including appropriate training schemes, clinical diplomas, and self-directed learning.

Participation Requirements

Rotas: Participate in on-call, evening, weekend, and bank holiday rotas as needed.

Continuing Education: Commit to ongoing education through structured training and self-directed learning to meet clinical governance standards.
