Job description

Introduction

Are you passionate about Health & Safety and ready to make your mark in a fast-paced FMCG or manufacturing environment? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Junior SHEQ Officer to join a dynamic team in JHB South. If you thrive on ensuring workplace compliance, championing safety standards, and driving operational excellence — this role is for you!

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Assist with on-site compliance for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  2. Support Risk and Legal compliance on site
  3. Identify potential compliance issues proactively to prevent threats
  4. Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in all work activities
  5. Conduct Hazard Identification and risk assessments
  6. Recommend risk mitigating controls and evaluate their effectiveness
  7. Ensure compliance with the NEMA act and regulations, maintain compliance registers, and oversee employee inductions
  8. Facilitate SHERQ inspections, meetings, and toolbox talks, and coordinate employee training and skills matrix development
  9. Manage legal appointments, PPE stock records, and maintain an audit schedule for timely closure of findings
  10. Conduct accident investigations, fire drills, and audit contractor safety files
Desired Experience & Qualification
  1. Grade 12 qualification
  2. SAMTRAC certification
  3. Experience in risk assessments and incident investigations
  4. Knowledge of ISO Management Systems
  5. 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure FMCG or manufacturing environment
  6. Strong written and oral communication skills
  7. Attention to detail and excellent report writing skills
  8. Clear criminal record
