About the role

Reporting into the Production Manager / Process Engineer, this person will be responsible for set-up, and sustained robust performance of all injection moulding machines. Responsibilities include:

  1. Proper set up and operation of injection moulding machines for the production of precision moulded plastic parts.
  2. Monitoring the moulding process to ensure product quality.
  3. Executing daily production tasks and supervising work in accordance with the production schedule.
  4. Creating set up procedures and process optimisation of new and existing plastic injection moulds.
  5. Mold process and process troubleshooting of various types of injection molds.
  6. Mold set ups and tooling changeovers.
  7. Mold maintenance and minor tool repair.
  8. Directing and monitoring the execution of the production schedule as well as performing mold and/or material changes as dictated by the schedule.
  9. Performing process troubleshooting.
  10. Part inspections and various other functions to ensure part conformity and quality.
  11. Verifying paperwork for jobs and completion of inspections at the start of jobs and in-process inspections.
  12. Monitoring and preparing support equipment as needed in the production area.
  13. Assisting in break coverage as needed.

About you:

National Senior Certificate / Matric / Grade 12 Certificate (Completed).

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Strong mathematical skills. High achievement orientation. Concern for order, quality, and accuracy. Punctual. Ability to work within a team. Prepared to work shifts, occasionally.

Preference will be given if you have the following knowledge & Experience:

  1. Injection Moulding certification plus 5 years progressive manufacturing experience.
  2. Excellent mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of plastic injection moulding equipment and moulds.
  3. Knowledge of set up and tear down procedures of injection moulding moulds.
  4. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  5. Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments and inspection of equipment to monitor quality.
  6. Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures based on ISO Standards.
