As the Jnr Financial Manager, your responsibilities will initially include core accounting duties, with the position evolving into a more focused financial leadership role as a dedicated Financial Accountant is appointed. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, preferably related to the finance and loan industry, leadership skills, and initiative-taking ability.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Monthly compilation and control of financial data related to the company's operations, including income statements, financial statements, and cash flow statements.
- Financial Planning: Involvement in short-term planning through managing annual operating projections and monitoring monthly budget performance. Assistance with long-term financial strategy updates and annual budget consolidation.
- Capital Management: Maintenance of fixed asset register and management of capital expenditure planning based on available cash.
- Treasury Management: Daily monitoring of bank balances to ensure cash availability for obligations.
- Taxation: Accurate accounting of VAT and compliance with tax requirements.
- Internal Audit and Risk Management: Overseeing process improvements, compliance testing, and staff training to ensure accurate financial records.
- External Audit: Liaising with auditors, managing audit reports, and implementing corrective actions.
- Revenue Management: Reporting occupancy figures and contributing to revenue goal strategies.
- Staff Development: Managing and developing the financial staff once appointed.
Accounting Duties (Until Financial Accountant is appointed)
- Billing to customers (monthly/daily).
- Maintaining accounting records on Pastel.
- Providing monthly customer statements.
- Preparing and issuing biannual tax reconciliations.
- Ensuring valid Tax Clearance and BEE Certificates and managing compliance audits.
- Maintaining statutory compliance for all entities, including annual returns and vendor registrations.
- Submitting VAT, PAYE, IT, Dividend Tax, and PTAX returns via e-filing, along with IRP5 and EMP reconciliations.
- Processing salary and supplier payments through online banking for director approval.
Qualifications & Experience
- CA (SA) qualification.
- At least 1 year post-articles experience, preferably in a financial services environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is approximately R45,000 - R50,000 CTC per month. The client reserves the right to offer a market-related salary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
