They are situated in Centurion and looking for an Accountant / Jnr Accountant to join their firm.

Role Overview: This role offers hands-on exposure to accounting, independent reviews, audit engagements, and SARS interactions—including full tax-return submission and dispute resolution—with structured mentorship and study support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting & Reporting
  2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for clients in accordance with IFRS and SA GAAP.
  3. Perform general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  4. Assist in planning and executing independent review engagements.
  5. Support audit teams with testing, documentation, and client liaison.
  6. Prepare, submit, and manage all client tax returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, and personal income tax) to SARS.
  7. Manage SARS queries, assessments, and correspondence on behalf of clients.
  8. Liaise with SARS officials to resolve tax disputes or audit findings.

Client Interaction:

  1. Act as a point of contact for a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely responses and clear communication.
  2. Coordinate with clients to gather necessary information and resolve queries.
  3. Identify process inefficiencies and propose enhancements.
  4. Participate in internal training sessions and knowledge-sharing forums.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2–3 years experience in an accounting role.
  • Hands-on exposure to independent reviews preferred.
  • Audit experience is an advantage.
  • Proven experience preparing and submitting tax returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, personal income tax) and managing SARS enquiries.
  • Degree or completed Degree and Articles (Salary depending on qualifications and experience).

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V-lookups, macros).
  • In-depth knowledge of SARS processes and tax legislation.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving and analytical mindset.
