We are looking for a Medical Officer: Associate (Home-Visits/Command Centre) to join our amazing team.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled medical doctor to join our organisation as a Medical Officer - Associate. In this role, you will provide and oversee the provision of personalised medical care to patients in their homes. Additionally, you will take on the responsibility of assisting in clinical care provided through our Command Center, whilst supporting our team of home-visit clinicians. Reporting directly to the Family Physician and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care and driving the success of our organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Function as the day-to-day clinical leader of the home-care interdisciplinary team, providing decision support to team patients receiving care in their homes.

• Assess patients' needs in their place of residence and develop comprehensive care plans.

• Perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop individualised treatment plans.

• Provide same-day clinical assessment and treatment for urgent cases.

• Conduct in-home medical visits, delivering comprehensive primary care and managing acute and chronic conditions.

• Provide medical advice, counselling, and education to patients and their families, emphasising a patient-centred approach.

• Develop strong patient-doctor and caregiver-doctor relationships to improve patient compliance with care plans.

• Participate in clinical management meetings to discuss patient care and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.

• Work with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the care plan meets the clinical and psycho-social needs of the patient.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.

• Support the operations of the Command Centre, serving as the central hub for remote monitoring and coordination of patient care.

• Oversee the triage of incoming patient data and alerts from remote monitoring devices, ensuring timely interventions and follow-ups.

• Collaborate with all the clinical team and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.

• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and guidelines for remote monitoring and hospital-at-home services.

• Analyse clinical and clinical operations data trends, providing insights for quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

• Support the implementation and optimisation of digital health technologies within the Command Centre.

• Provide supervision and oversight to the team of junior clinicians, including mentoring, training, and performance management.

• Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment, promoting professional growth and development among the team.

• Report directly to the Family Physician - Clinical operations manager and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), providing updates on clinical operations, challenges, and opportunities.

Requirements:

• Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) with active medical registration in South Africa.

• Demonstrated clinical expertise with experience in Family medicine and primary care, internal medicine, or a relevant specialty.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

• Proficiency in utilising digital health technologies and telemedicine platforms.

• Research experience and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

• Proven leadership skills with experience managing interdisciplinary teams.

• Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and adapt to changing priorities.

• Familiarity with remote monitoring, hospital-at-home, and digital health care delivery models.

• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance in the healthcare industry.

• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational abilities.
