Job description

  • You must currently reside in Cape Town to be considered for this role.

Role Overview : As a Workshop Technician, you will play a critical role in providing hardware repair and IT support to our client’s customers. You should have completed an IT training course (6 months - 1 year) and understand the basics around PCs, Macs, laptops, and printers. Ideally, you also have some basic networking and internet-related experience, including certifications or formal training courses related to macOS and Windows systems administration, hardware repair, or IT support (Apple Certified Mac Technician, CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install and configure various software applications on both Mac and Windows platforms, including productivity tools, antivirus software, and specialized applications relevant to the IT workshop environment.
  • Provide basic PC / Mac / Printer support and log calls with vendors and suppliers.
  • Perform new PC and Mac laptop installations.
  • Manage the helpdesk phone.
  • Troubleshoot Windows OS (versions like Windows 10 / 11), handle system updates, configure hardware drivers, manage Active Directory (AD) accounts, and resolve common Windows software issues.
  • Demonstrate solid experience with MS Office / 365 packages (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Have some exposure to network patching.
  • Provide support for network devices (switches, routers) as needed.
  • Have basic experience with Microsoft SQL Server and writing SQL queries.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware / software issues efficiently on both Mac and Windows platforms using systematic troubleshooting methods.
  • Possess basic to intermediate networking knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client systems and service activities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and build strong client relationships.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Repair and upgrade Mac hardware components such as RAM, hard drives, and batteries, and troubleshoot hardware-related issues (e.g., keyboard, trackpad).
  • Troubleshoot macOS issues, perform system upgrades, configure network settings, manage user accounts, and resolve software conflicts specific to Mac systems.
  • Repair and upgrade Windows laptops and desktops, including hardware diagnostics, component replacement (e.g., memory, storage), and resolving hardware conflicts.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are relevant certifications.
  • Completion of an IT training course (6 months - 1 year) with an understanding of the basics around PCs, Macs, laptops, and printers.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools.
  • Experience with Exchange / O365.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure.

  • Valid driver’s license with no endorsements
  • South African ID or international passport with a valid work permit.
