Requirements
Grade 12 (NQF4)
CompTIA A+ and N+ certifications (or equivalent recognised IT technical qualifications)
MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or equivalent certifications
IT Security related Certification (desirable)
ITIL Foundation or related certification (desirable)
Experience in the medical Industry preferred
Experience in technical support preferred
Good problem-solving skills for hardware, software, and system issues
Clear communication skills for helping users and working with different teams
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic understanding of IT procurement and vendor management is a plus
Willingness to learn about new technologies
Friendly and professional attitude towards customer service
Any other relevant certifications or training is a bonus
Key Performance Areas
Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support for all users across the organisation, including remote and on-site assistance
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals
Support Microsoft Windows operating systems and standard applications, particularly Microsoft
Manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions using Active Directory management tools and related systems
Provide basic server support including monitoring, patching assistance, and system checks
Perform first-level firewall support (e.g. VPN access, Firewall Setup)
Troubleshoot network issues across LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi environments
Maintain and update IT asset records and ensure correct procedures for device reallocation or decommissioning
Ensure all support interactions are logged accurately in the ticketing system and resolved within defined SLA timelines
Adhere to and promote NRC's IT security policies, including proper handling of credentials, user access, endpoint protection, and data handling practices
Report any security-related incidents or observations immediately to the IT Manager or relevant authority
Assist in the rollout of security updates, antivirus/malware checks, and vulnerability patching as directed
Participate in system audits, asset reviews, and compliance initiatives as required
Support general IT projects and infrastructure improvements, including site setups, migrations, and rollouts
Participate in the after-hours / Standby support roster or escalation process where required
Ensure that there is clear communication when assisting users
