IVANHOE MINES is looking for an IT Technician.

Ivanhoe Mines is a leading Canadian mining company committed to becoming a global leader in the supply of critical resources required to transition our world to a low-carbon, renewable future. Ivanhoe is focused on developing and expanding its four principal mining and exploration projects in Southern Africa. These include the development of the Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Platreef palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold discovery in South Africa, the redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine in the DRC, and exploration on the Western Foreland near Kamoa-Kakula.

Purpose of the role:

Responsible for providing technical support, advice, and guidance for internal/external users of IT systems and applications, either directly or via network communication. Responsible for installing and maintaining computer systems and networks to ensure optimal functionality and technology utilization.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with data management and hardware/software support.
  • Grade 12 education.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification.
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Degree or Diploma in an ICT-related field (advantageous).
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • MCSA Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate Qualification.
  • CCNA certification / Fortinet NSE4-7 (advantageous).
Advanced skills and knowledge include:
  • Create user accounts using applicable applications.
  • Troubleshoot software-related problems.
  • Apply incident management procedures.
  • Understand TCP/IP protocols.
  • Support company hardware and software platforms.
  • Troubleshoot network issues.
Key Performance Activities:
  • Ensure ICT reporting aligns with standards and schedules.
  • Install and configure ICT equipment and software.
  • Maintain desktops, laptops, and inventory accuracy.
  • Prepare hardware for disposal per policy.
  • Support hardware and software issues.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose reported issues.
  • Provide first-level network support and escalate as needed.
  • Set up new users and manage IT helpdesk.
  • Offer expertise to improve department effectiveness.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships within the organization.
  • Perform housekeeping and security management tasks.
  • Monitor alerts and manage costs with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in personal development opportunities.
  • Assist in equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Promote safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Support team and self-management for performance and task completion.
