Job description

Malander is seeking a dynamic IT Systems and Project Manager to join a leading organisation based in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who will oversee the performance, integration, and ongoing support of critical business systems and applications. The successful candidate will combine strong IT project management, people leadership, and system oversight to ensure seamless technology operations that support business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of IT projects, including system implementations, software upgrades, and application enhancements
  • Define project scopes, develop budgets, allocate resources, and track delivery milestones
  • Evaluate and implement software solutions based on business requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure seamless system integration and delivery
  • Design and maintain system integrations and data exchange workflows between internal applications and third-party platforms
  • Ensure consistency and synchronization of data across multiple systems
  • Manage the lifecycle of core business systems including SYSPRO, SharePoint, POS, and WMS
  • Coordinate with central IT teams for patches, upgrades, and systems alignment
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and governance standards for business systems
  • Ensure compliance with company-wide IT governance (in line with BCFA Central IT standards)
  • Provide escalation support for complex technical issues or service disruptions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary IT team, including developers, system administrators, and support staff
  • Oversee team performance, conduct reviews, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with business units to gather software requirements and align systems strategy with organisational objectives
  • Support software architecture decisions and integration with third-party service providers
  • Contribute to long-term IT strategy and roadmap planning aligned to business needs

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent certifications and experience)
  • MBA or Project Management qualification is advantageous
  • 5–10 years' experience in IT roles, with at least 3–5 years in IT project or systems management
  • Proven experience delivering full project life cycles from initiation to close-out

  • Experience with enterprise business systems such as ERP, WMS, and POS
  • Solid understanding of system integrations, APIs, middleware, and cloud-based solutions
  • Strong people management and leadership experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to work extended hours or travel if required
