Job description

IT Support Engineer Tier 2
Location: Century City - R30 Per Month
We are looking for a motivated and experienced IT Engineer to join our out-of-hours Service Desk team based in Cape Town, South Africa.

This role reports to the Director of Technology and Engineering.

This position is for a UK-based company servicing Europe and the UK, so you will work UK hours.

The main purpose of this position is to provide Managed and Support services to our clients and to maintain and support our infrastructure and current client environment proactively.

Responsibilities
  1. Address client support issues.
  2. Setup and configure services and solutions.
  3. Monitor network and service performance.
  4. Manage client environments utilizing a central management system.
  5. Perform remote engineering work related to IT support, internet connectivity, telecommunications, and Wi-Fi, including configuration, support, and troubleshooting.
  6. Deliver high levels of customer service and engagement.
  7. Provide progress updates and recommendations to customers and the wider team.
  8. Update records, time entries, and documentation promptly.
  9. Assist in supporting and managing internal IT systems.
  10. Support remote tasks for customers and internal systems.
  11. Perform any additional duties as required.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  1. Technical Skills: Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Office (2013/2016), Microsoft configuration, administration, migration, and Teams administration.
  2. Support experience for Windows 8-11 desktops and Macs.
  3. Experience delivering Microsoft security updates using automated tools.
  4. Management of anti-malware platforms.
  5. WAN security experience, especially with Ubiquiti Unifi and TP-Link Omada Firewalls/Security Gateways.
  6. Certifications: Microsoft MSCA, Cisco CCNA, or similar.
  7. Knowledge of Azure/AWS cloud environments is advantageous.
  8. Experience with web security filtering solutions and email content filtering (e.g., Mimecast).
  9. Experience with RMM solutions like SolarWinds N-Central.
