Job description

IT Support Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable, and innovative IT Support Engineer to provide technical support to all branches of a national company, both remotely and onsite.

The ideal candidate will be a curious, collaborative, organized, and hardworking team player who continually seeks innovative ways to improve IT systems across all platforms. They should have an excellent track record in their field, be able to work under pressure, take initiative, and own their tasks.

Responsibilities
  1. Respond to technical support calls from end users regarding computers and software applications.
  2. Take ownership of customer issues and ensure resolution.
  3. Research, diagnose, troubleshoot, and identify solutions for system issues.
  4. Follow standard procedures for escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.
  5. Raise tickets for issues requiring escalation on the company ticketing platform.
  6. Identify IT needs within the company and ensure they are met.
  7. Upgrade and repair company computers and LAN/WAN infrastructure to minimize downtime.
  8. Perform data backups and manage Google Accounts for ex-employees.
  9. Ensure compliance with group policies, procedures, and standards as per IT headquarters' instructions.
  10. Perform all necessary IT support functions and any other duties assigned by your manager.
  11. Engage with suppliers to support daily IT operations.
  12. Support employees with IT challenges.
  13. Maintain system security levels to comply with group standards and combat security threats.
  14. Update IT inventory lists regularly.
  15. Communicate effectively with users regarding IT requests.
  16. Be available for overtime and weekend work when necessary.
  17. Travel locally and across Africa as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Advantage: Experience with Chromebooks.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in hardware/software installation, configuration, and network management.
  • Experience with Active Directory, creating user accounts, and maintaining systems.
  • Knowledge of network switches (HP, Cisco, Aruba), Google Suite, App Script, Kaspersky Antivirus, Google Mail setup, WiFi, firewalls, VLANs.
