Job description

Our client in the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking an IT Support candidate to join their team based in Port Elizabeth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 School Leaving Certificate.
  • National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Setup new users.
  2. Diagnose and solve user problems.
  3. Assist users in maximising IT investments, such as explaining Mimecast and email options.
  4. Provide security training and awareness to users in conjunction with system tools.
  5. Ensure users log in properly.
  6. Desktop support.
  7. LAN support, including printers, phones, scanners, IP devices like biometric clocking readers, Wi-Fi, etc. Troubleshoot and log calls with suppliers.
  8. Communicate with head office.
  9. WAN support; be the onsite contact for liaising with suppliers regarding installations and repairs.
  10. Minimal server administration: following procedures for adding users, changing passwords, administering disk space and file permissions, and assisting with drive mappings.
  11. Ensure systems are up to date with anti-virus and Windows updates; log and chase for completion if needed.
  12. Manage site backups, ensuring they are successful.
  13. Monitor power supply systems, including UPS and generators, reporting maintenance needs.
  14. Maintain software licensing records, report unlicensed software, and manage local software purchases.
  15. Perform administrative duties, including getting quotes, following procurement processes, and assisting suppliers.
  16. Collaborate with a national team of IT support staff.
  17. Support junior staff in the region.
  18. Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  19. Conduct general IT administration tasks such as filing and record keeping.
