Job description

Our client in the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking an IT Support candidate to join their team based in Port Elizabeth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 School Leaving Certificate.
  • National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Set up new users.
  2. Diagnose and resolve user problems.
  3. Assist users in maximizing IT investments, such as explaining Mimecast and email options.
  4. Provide security training and awareness to users in conjunction with system tools.
  5. Ensure users log in properly.
  6. Desktop support.
  7. LAN support, including printers, phones, scanners, IP devices like biometric clocking readers, Wi-Fi, etc., troubleshooting and logging calls with suppliers.
  8. Communicate with head office.
  9. WAN support: act as the onsite contact for suppliers regarding installations and repairs.
  10. Perform basic server administration, such as adding users, changing passwords, managing disk space and file permissions, and assisting with drive mappings.
  11. Ensure systems are up to date with anti-virus and Windows updates, logging and chasing updates with head office if needed.
  12. Oversee site backups, ensuring they are successful, with centrally managed but locally administered backups.
  13. Maintain core services by monitoring power/UPS systems and reporting maintenance needs to ensure continuous operation.
  14. Report unlicensed software, maintain records of local software purchases, and manage software licensing.
  15. Perform administrative duties, including filing and record keeping.
  16. Get quotes and follow procurement processes, including liaising with suppliers for paperwork and equipment/services.
  17. Assist suppliers as needed.
  18. Work as part of a national IT support team.
  19. Support junior staff in the region.
  20. Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  21. Conduct general IT administration tasks.
